REACH (EU)
Regulates chemical substances. Ask for a Declaration of Conformity and, where relevant, an SVHC statement confirming no substances exceed 0.1% on the candidate list.
RoHS (EU/electronics)
Limits lead, cadmium, mercury and similar in electronic-adjacent goods. Request the test report, not just a self-declaration.
SGS / third-party testing
An SGS or equivalent lab report is the gold standard. Check: the sample description matches your product, the test date is current (≤12 months), and the lab is accredited.
Red flags to avoid
- A “certificate” that is really a supplier’s Word document.
- No lot/batch number tying the report to your shipment.
- Tests older than a year on a reformulated product.
