What Are Black and White EVA Foam Sheets?
Black and white EVA foam sheets are thin, flexible panels made from ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) — a closed-cell foam material that is soft, lightweight and water-resistant. These A4-sized (210 × 297 mm), 2 mm thick craft foam sheets cut cleanly with scissors or a hobby knife, hold their shape after heat-forming, and won’t crack or fray. Each pack contains 10 pre-cut black and white EVA foam sheets, ready to use for cosplay armour, school art, DIY models, foam stamps, scrapbooking and protective packaging inserts. The smooth matte surface takes acrylic paint, markers and ink evenly, and at a density of 86 kg/m³ this cosplay foam is light enough to wear as costume armour yet firm enough to hold sculpted edges and fine details.
Every pack includes both colours, so you can build contrast straight out of the box: black for bold outlines, armour bases and silhouettes, white for highlights, painted details and light-toned props.

Why Crafters and Schools Choose This EVA Foam
- Easy to cut and shape — scissors, hobby knife, or a punch/die-cut machine. The 2 mm thickness cuts with minimal pressure, so even younger students can work safely with rounded-tip scissors.
- Soft yet durable — flexible, tear-resistant, keeps clean edges. Unlike cardboard or felt, this craft foam bounces back after bending and resists fraying along cut lines.
- Sewable — stitch with a pointed tapestry needle for fabric-style projects. EVA foam can be combined with fabric, leather and felt in mixed-media pieces.
- Stamp-friendly — carve a motif, ink it, and transfer onto watercolour paper. The closed-cell surface holds detail well and cleans easily between colours.
- Consistent 2 mm thickness — predictable results for crafts and classroom sets. Every sheet in the pack matches, so layered builds stack evenly without wobble.
- Paint and primer ready — black and white EVA foam sheets accept acrylic paint, spray paint and plastidip after a light sand, making them a favourite cosplay foam for armour and props.
Where to Use Black and White EVA Foam Sheets
- Cosplay, costume & prop base layers — armour plates, gauntlets, helmet details and weapon props.
- School & classroom art — design sheets, coloured card crafts, 3D sculptures and science fair models.
- Scrapbooking, card making & gift tags — dimensional embellishments and shaker-card fillers.
- DIY foam stamps and print transfer — carve custom patterns for repeat printing on paper and fabric.
- Coasters, placemats & small organizers — water-resistant surface protects tables and drawers.
- Model, diorama & prototype making — terrain, building facades, vehicle parts and architectural models.
- Packaging inserts & protective padding — cut custom shapes to cushion fragile items in boxes and cases.

How to Cut, Sew & Glue EVA Foam
EVA foam has a soft consistency that makes it easy and flexible to work with — cut it with scissors or a hobby knife, or punch out templates with a machine. For clean curves, score the surface lightly before bending. To sew, use a pointed tapestry needle and waxed thread; pre-punch holes for thicker layers. For gluing, we recommend super hobby glue applied in thin, even coats, or contact cement for large surfaces that need a strong, flexible bond. Always test glue on a scrap piece first, as some adhesives can warp thinner foam.
EVA Foam vs Foam Board, Felt & Cardboard
Compared to foam board, black and white EVA foam sheets are flexible, water-resistant and won’t crease permanently — foam board is rigid but dents and tears easily. Compared to felt, EVA foam holds a rigid shape and can be sanded and heat-formed into curves. Compared to cardboard, it is water-resistant and bounces back after bending. This makes black and white craft foam the go-to material when you need something that is both soft to work with and structurally capable for cosplay, modelling and packaging.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What colours are included in the pack? Every 10-sheet pack contains both black and white EVA foam sheets, so you always have a dark and a light base colour on hand for contrast builds, two-tone props and layered designs.
- Can I paint these black and white EVA foam sheets? Yes. Acrylic paint works directly on the surface; for a smooth finish, lightly sand and apply a primer or plastidip first.
- Is this foam heat-formable? Yes. Apply gentle heat with a heat gun or hair dryer to curve and shape the foam; it holds the new shape as it cools.
- Can I use a Cricut or cutting machine? Yes. Most craft cutting machines can cut 2 mm EVA foam with a deep-cut blade; check your machine’s material settings first.
- Is EVA foam waterproof? It is water-resistant due to its closed-cell structure, but not intended for prolonged submersion. It can be sealed with plastidip or spray for outdoor use.
- Is this foam safe for children? Yes, when used under adult supervision. It is non-toxic and free of sharp edges, but small cut-off pieces should be kept away from toddlers.

Care & Storage
